Nintendo Switch Sports got announced today, and it's on track for release for the Nintendo Switch on April 29. And yeah, even the description sets the scene by stating it's "a new iteration of the Wii Sports series". Which is you remember the Wii, it helped create a momentary motion-control craze. One that, as they say, swept the nation.

With the return of favourites like Bowling and Tennis, plus three new sports in the form of Soccer, Badminton, and Volleyball - it also sees the return of motion controls. Where the motion tech inside each and every Joy Con is set to be reanimated like a bunch of Wiimote zombies.

Swing, kick and spike your way to victory with a collection of sports that puts you right into the action! Play together in person or online with family and friends, or challenge friendly competitors near and far in the new iteration of the classic Wii Sports series. Competing in six sports using Joy-Con controllers, including Football (Soccer), Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton and Chambara (Swordplay), players will turn their real-world actions into in-game movements. Players can even use a Joy-Con with the Leg Strap accessory included with the physical version to kick the ball in a Football Shoot-Out. Plus, a seventh sport is planned to be added via a free update this spring – get ready to Golf!

No doubt this will be a fun way to rekindle some of that Wii-era magic, but with the motion control fad well and truly faded we think it'll be more like the person we see in the trailer. Just going through the motions.
