Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is quite possibly the perfect Mario Kart, in that it's hard to see where else the series can go. Today, as part of a new Nintendo Direct, a special Booster Course Pass was announced which will see the arrival of a whopping 48 new tracks arrive over the next two years.
Which kind of makes it Mario Kart 9 in terms of newness.
Yeah, it's exactly the sort of thing the game needs - new content released at a regular clip. And with the DLC packs arriving as a part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service (DLC packs will also be sold separately) it also marks a change in direction for Nintendo. In that this is a very 2022 move for the publisher, turning one of the Switch's best games into a live service.
Here's a look.
With six waves in total set to launch by the end of 2023, the first batch of tracks, 8 in total, arrive on March 18.
