As per EA's latest financial report, CEO Andrew Wilson noted that "FY22 has been a year of outstanding growth for Electronic Arts, and we’re proud that our franchises were among the most-downloaded, most-played, and most popular titles". Which of course means EA had a great year... financially. But, when it comes to Battlefield 2042 Andrew Wilson noted that “the launch of Battlefield 2042 did not meet expectations”.

The statement came during the financial call where he added, “Developing this game with our teams working from home for nearly two years ultimately proved to be challenging. Through our processes for testing and preparation, we believed the experience was ready to be put in our players’ hands. We launched with strong stability; however, as more players experienced the full game, it became clear there were unanticipated performance issues that we would need to address. Some of the design choices we made with the game also did not resonate with everyone in our community.”

Interestingly it looks like we didn't get any sort of official word on the game's sales. But this follows on from the announcement earlier today that the game's first season of new content has been pushed back so DICE can work on making fundamental changes to the game. This means adding features like a proper scoreboard, voice support, and tweaking gunplay. It also means major overhauls to map design and other features. Which Wilson reiterated by stating that EA is "fully committed to realising the full potential of this game".
