Well, it's finally happened. Final Fantasy XIV Online’s Oceania Data Centre has launched. It goes online alongside Patch 6.08 and is available for both new character creation and Home World Transfers, both of which come with a few cool bonuses.

Namely, a special Double EXP bonus for both newly created and transferred characters -- up to Level 80. New players get Silver Chocobo Feathers exchangeable for in-game items, in addition to 1,000,000 gil and a gift of 15 days of free play time once they hit Level 30. Transferred players will get Gold Chocobo Feathers, exchangeable for rewards like rare mounts.

Square Enix is doing all of the above to entice local players to make the jump to the new servers, though we suspect low Pings and reduced latency will also do the trick.

And finally, to celebrate the launch of Oceanic Servers for Final Fantasy XIV the development team has commissioned a map of Australia and New Zealand created in the style of the in-game world map. Very cool.

You can grab a 4K version -- here.
