That is, Nintendo Switch
owners with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership can now enjoy the musical platform styling of Rare's classic Banjo-Kazooie
as part of the Nintendo 64 library of playable games. With another classic, Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
, hitting the service next month.
Although Banjo-Kazooie got a remaster for the Xbox 360 it's worth noting that the version here is the original Nintendo 64 release, in all of its blocky 1990s glory. So yeah, not running in native 4K or anything like that. Rare's take on the popular Super Mario 64 quickly became one of the most beloved titles for the Nintendo 64, so its inclusion here is more than welcome. It's a '90s era 3D platformer that stands the test of time.
But, with Banjo in January and Zelda in February the release cadence for additions to Nintendo Switch Online's backwards compatible library is a little slow to say the least. Kind of like how it was during he first few months of the actual Nintendo 64 hitting store shelves. Ahh, memories.
That said, with NES, SNES, Sega Mega Drive, and Nintendo 64 covered, there are over 100 retro games available to play.
