And it's currently doing the closed beta rounds, for which you can sign up for here, but LEAP also arrives on Steam Early Access fairly soon ("next month", to be exact), so if you miss out, it's not the end of the world. Even if the game visually looks like it is.
So what exactly is LEAP and why should you care about it over any other team-based shooter? Well, for one it doesn't take itself seriously, and two it is self-described as "a twisted team-based, aerial firefight focused first-person shooter" and here, we're all about creative ways to perform a genre cut-through. Here's a bit more in an official sense:
In LEAP, players will select from four unique classes, each delivering a unique balance of power, agility and defense as well as epic abilities that bring shock and awe onto their foes. Call in orbital strikes, set up automated turrets, or control guided cruise missiles as each exosuit is armed to the teeth. Large-scale combat takes place on a variety of stages and skilled mercenaries use jetpacks, grappling hooks and highly distinctive Personal Vehicles to close the distance on control points and active firefights. Nothing is more menacing than a LEAP mercenary saddled on a mechanical robo-moose galloping at full speed.
