Which is something we learned as a part of a new interview with Todd Howard over at The Telegrah
. With Todd overseeing a brand-new Indiana Jones
game being developed by MachineGames
fame), we got word that it's an idea and passion project he's had for a while.
"I think I originally pitched [to George] Lucas in 2009 and I’ve been trying to find a way to make that [since]," Todd says. "And I think the work Machine Games have done, they’re just phenomenal developers and storytellers. And when I started talking to them about it, it was a good fit. And we got to the opportunity to talk to Lucas and Disney about it and they were super excited."
The game which has yet to be revealed was announced back in January of this year -- a partnership between Lucasfilm Games and Bethesda
. With development duties being handled by MachineGames this of course means that BGS or Todd's own Bethesda Game Studios
is currently working on Starfield
and The Elder Scrolls VI
. Where the latter is apparently still in the design phase.
“The [new Starfield] technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both," Todd notes. "It’s like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine. It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase]… but we’re checking the tech: 'Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?'"
So yeah, Starfield first, Elder Scrolls 6 next - with Indy probably somewhere in the middle.
