Borderlands 3 was set to get an update that would bring cross-play to all platforms (from PC to Xbox to PlayStation), but as per an announcement from Gearbox chief Randy Pitchford the feature won't be coming to PS4 or PS5. The reasoning? Well, it's a little unclear.

As per the Tweet above Randy paints the picture that Sony explicitly asked for the the feature to be removed. "For certification, we have been required by the publisher to remove crossplay support for PlayStation consoles," he writes. Which sounds like there's either an issue on the game-side, say code, or cross-play isn't really something you can add without express permission from Sony. Cross-play is a feature that fans have been wanting to see since day one, so here's hoping whatever the hold up may be, can be resolved.
