Featuring the sort of realistic rotoscoped animation seen in the original Prince of Persia and Another World, Flashback is one of those side-scrolling gems from the '90s that felt like a milestone in animation and design. With its release window set for 2022, Flashback 2 sees the original creator Paul Cuisset return alongside Microids to, well, bring back the flash.

Details are a little light but the sequel will see the return of protagonist Conrad B. Hart (very cool name by the way) in a new "action platformer".

"Developing a sequel to Flashback is an idea I’ve had for a very long time," says Paul Cuisset. "I can’t wait for players to discover the new adventures of Conrad B. Hart, a character created almost 30 years ago. With Microids, we are really aiming to please the fans of the original title while being appealing to any players with a weak spot for futuristic games."

"At Microids, we thrive for delivering projects highlighting the craft of talented individuals," Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids adds. "Paul Cuisset is a French hall of famer known internationally. We are proud to work hand in hand with him and his team on this project."

A weak spot for futuristic game? Yeah, that's us.

Hopefully this turns out well. The original is still one of my favourite games.

Shouldn't it be a sequel to Fade To Black?
