In that it takes the Dynasty Warriors staple of "way too many characters on screen at one time where you can then you swing a melee weapon to send them flying in all directions" and runs with it. Produced by China 3D Digital Entertainment Limited, like the series it's based on it too focuses on the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history.

But, you know, the version with flaming meteor and lightning attacks.

Apparently filming for this one took place in 2017 with all of the extra post-production time taken to give the action the proper Dynasty Warriors treatment. The story focuses on heroes Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei (played by Tony Yang, Geng Han, and Justin Cheung) going up against big bad Lu Bu (played by Louis Koo).

The Dynasty Warriors movie is set to release in Hong Kong and Mainland China next month -- with the eventual western release TBC.
