Indie survival hit
Valheim probably needs no introduction -- on the account of it surpassing four million copies sold after three weeks into its
Early Access release. As per our in-depth write-up it's a great game and feels complete even as an Early Access title. As far as Steam releases go, Valheim is something of success story and then some - passing 500,000 concurrent players, putting into the list of top played games on the platform.
Developer Iron Gate is no doubt taking it all in and looking to the future of Valheim. As for the milestone, the studio wrote, "When Valheim first hit Steam Early Access just three weeks ago, we hoped that all the hard work our small team put into the game these past three years would get the attention it deserved. Little did we know just how much Valheim would resonate with all four million of you."

The survival game features a minimal yet striking art-style and a wonderful blend of exploration, combat, and crafting. This is one of those cases of success being related to the quality of the game, with it currently sitting high up in steam's Top 250 best reviewed games of all time too -- with tens of thousands of 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews.
GAME TRIVIA - Did You Know?
Since 2017
Steam's global active monthly users has almost doubled, jumping from roughly 67,000,000 to around 120,000,000 in 2020. This growth has obviously helped with the success of
Valheim, thanks to such a significant install base (on top of the game's gameplay loop and aesthetic), but equally speaks to the evergreen growth prospects of Valve's PC gaming platform.
