Okay, yeah, that headline is something of a mouthful. But 30XX is exactly that, a riff on classic Mega Man X gameplay with wonderful pixel-art and animation that's also a rogue-like and a bit of game-maker. Set to hit Steam Early Access on February 17 it's a pretty stacked package of retro goodness that also includes a classic campaign and co-op.

Check it out.

Jump, shoot, and slash through an ever-changing gauntlet of challenges as a heroic robotic duo with distinct, customizable maneuvers and combat loadouts. Dive into Mega Mode for a permadeath-free classic campaign experience, team up with a friend in co-op, or take the reins in Maker Mode to craft design tailor-made levels and share them with the community.

It looks great, and a lot faster than the original Mega Man X titles -- with fluid animation and a bigger focus on smoother platforming. Exactly how that translates to rogue-like endless modes and player-created levels remains to be seen -- though a platform to make classic Mega Man style levels you can tackle in co-op is one worth celebrating.
