The Initiative's first game will be Perfect Dark, which sees the Rare N64 original and Xbox 360 sequel return in near-future reboot form. As per the cinematic trailer we see a realistic futuristic vision of Egypt where corporations have created a sustainable but still sinister world.

Although the Xbox 360 Perfect Dark Zero fell short of capturing the brilliance of the original this looks to be taking that awe and scope of Rare's N64 classic into the modern era.

Darrell Gallagher, Studio Head, The Initiative, writes, "With Perfect Dark, we’re aiming to deliver a secret agent thriller set in a near-future world. We have built the Perfect Dark team at The Initiative by bringing in some of the most talented game makers from around the industry who all share a passion for storytelling, world-building and creating memorable game experiences."

As per the following developer-focused feature, the focus here looks to be on espionage, cinematic storytelling, and huge set pieces.

Simply called Perfect Dark, it's safe to call this one a reboot. And with The Initiative at the helm - a studio chock full of talent that has worked on Tom Raider, God of War, and other big AAA titles - it's time to start the Joanna Dark hype train. Because of course, we get a glimpse of the spy master in the teaser.

Perfect Dark is currently in development for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
