Ahh Timezone, aka the Aussie version of the videogame arcade - the place to play Street Fighter II, Final Fight, Outrun, and the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. Or, classics for-even-back-then like Pac-Man and Galaga. Partnering with a local distributor, retro cabinet company Arcade1Up is finally bringing its classic gaming to Australia.

It's worth noting that these aren't actual arcade cabinets that you'd find back in the day. For one they present emulated arcade titles on 17" LCD displays inside easy-to-assemble cabinets with arcade-style joysticks.

That said what you get is basically brand-new - and a bit of show-piece. Something that does a lot more than say a pot-plant or an armoire. Who wouldn't want a vibrant cabinet pre-loaded with '90s Capcom fighting games Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Children of the Atom, and Punisher sitting there. Or some table-top Galaga.

Here's a breakdown of what's coming.

Marvel Arcade Machine

Games: Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Children of the Atom, Punisher
Enter the world of Marvel with Arcade1Up’s Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes Home Arcade Game, and collect the Infinity Gems! These look totally awesome!

I would prefer a single machine with a heap of games loaded on it like the mini consoles that have been coming out, especially at that price. But at least you get a few relevant games with these instead of just the one.
