Which means the "new visuals" and remastered sound and music and "improved special effects" are all very welcome -- as is the silky smooth frame-rate -- but be prepared for some very 1999 visuals in the latest teaser trailer for Shadow Man Remastered. Although with two-minutes or so of gameplay this feels more like a full trailer.
Naturally stuff like 4K 60fps and widescreen support wasn't possible back in the N64-era, or for the subsequent Dreamcast and PC ports. Either way, this dark and mature take on The Legend of Zelda is somewhat of an underrated gem, a classic that all but disappeared (in terms of sequels) after its stellar debut.
That music though, and sound-effects, and the voice acting.. ahh, sweet memories. No doubt, those of us that played Shadow Man back in the day will be all over this. For those that haven't played it before, don't let the low-poly Nintendo 64-style 3D fool you, this is every bit the epic that Ocarina was. And hey, is right up there with Eternal Darkness in terms of classic dark and mature action-adventures for Ninty consoles. The story and setting, hunting notorious criminals and serial killer in both the real-world and "Deadside", still feels unique for the classic Zelda-style setup.
Shadow Man Remastered is coming to PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
