But only by about a month with the original August 28 launch pushed back to September 25. Mafia: Definitive Edition from 2K is complete built-from-the-ground-up remake of the classic gangster epic featuring stunning new visuals, controls, and expanded cinematic sequences.

The statement from 2K notes that wrapping up development "has become increasingly challenging due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, and [the] last thing we want to do is compromise the quality of the experience". The delay was made known via Twitter, with the full statement embedded below.

The gameplay reveal is still on track for July 22 and as a nice little bonus the following teaser trailer showcases glimpses of what to expect. Yeah, this looks awesome.

It's no secret that we're fans of the 2002 original at AusGamers, racing sequence and all, and the fact that the game is close to 20 years old means that a remake like this feels on par with what Capcom did with Resident Evil 2 and Square Enix with Final Fantasy VII.
