With the key word here being "tease" - in that we're mostly seeing behind the scenes shots, pretty environments, and cutting-edge character and object detail. That said the glimpse at the next Need For Speed from Criterion looks real. In that before the swipe that shows the cars in all their 3D-model-grey glory we would have sworn that the Porsche was real.
The clip also details how the faster storage of next-gen consoles will not only make games load in a matter of seconds but allow studios like EA Motive (developers of Star Wars: Squadrons) create what looks to be a very physics heavy project that requires super fast data speeds.
Plus, we see what can only be environments from BioWare's next installment in the Dragon Age series.
The next-gen sizzle reel also confirms that DICE is working on the next Battlefield but on that front we don't see any gameplay footage. Instead we see a tech-demo of sorts of hundreds of soldiers running on a field, plus a close up of a character showcasing some stunning facial detail and animation.
With the PS5 and Xbox Series X out this year the above is impressive but a little underwhelming - one can't help but get the feeling that EA's studios are only just starting to put together next-gen games. So, we probably won't see anything on day one outside of sports titles. Which brings up a good point - where's our next-gen FIFA trailer?
