Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is out this weekend on PC, bringing the original game and
Red Alert into the 4K era. For those of us who grew up playing RTS games in the '90s it's something we've been patiently waiting for since the remaster was first announced. Today
EA and
Petroglyph are doing another solid by releasing the full source code for both.
It's available for all, right now, via
GitHub - giving modders and developers access to all the Tiberium and alternate timelines where the Soviets took over Europe they'll ever need.
Via
Reddit, Petroglyph (the veteran Westwood team behind the remasters) added the following comment noting that it includes their adaptations for the new engine used. In addition to all the legacy stuff.
The mod DLL source code is the legacy game code, but adapted to work as a extention of the Petroglyph GlyphX engine, so some minor bits are missing. But all code for the core game machanics is there, along with all sorts of random legacy code (although unused) for the history hunters out there!
A very cool move to help celebrate these classics.
