NPCs are coming to Fallout 76 alongside what looks to be a major overhaul of the game and mechanics with the post-apocalyptic Appalachia region set to age a year in-game and see the arrival of warring factions with Wastelanders. In an extended look at the upcoming April release, developers at Bethesda go through the changes and showcase how it will all work.

Instances for solo players and teams are in to allow for more traditional storytelling, and players will need to eventually side with either the Settlers or the Raiders based on how they see the future of Appalachia panning out. In this clip we also see the new in-depth dialogue system which is reminiscent of Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Join Wastelanders developers Jeff Gardiner (Project Lead, Bethesda Game Studios), Ferret Baudoin (Lead Designer, Bethesda Game Studios), Mark Tucker (Design Director, Bethesda Game Studios), and Nathan Purkeypile (Lead Artist, Bethesda Game Studios), and as they talk about the changes coming to Appalachia as well as what goes into creating the stories and motivations of West Virginia’s newest residents.

The clip also showcases new weaponry in the form of bows and arrows, revamped Pip Boy navigation, events, and for some reason Jay from Jay and Silent Bob voicing a ghoul.
