Larian Studios has lifted the lid on Baldur's Gate 3 in a big way with a developer livestream (via Stadia) that took place overnight showcasing a huge chunk of gameplay. From the opening cinematic to the detailed character customisation system to emerging out into the world to explore, battle, and meet new faces.

The gameplay begins at the 11 minute mark below and offers up an in-depth look at what to expect when the game hits Early Access later this year. To dive straight into gameplay jump to the 19 minute mark - with combat beginning at around 24 minutes.

For those familiar with Baldur's Gate lore there's plenty of cool stuff here, but for those looking for another fantasy RPG to play you'll no doubt be immediately impressed with the level of detail in the world and the characters. As well as the conversation system that offers skill-based responses in addition to featuring wonderful voice acting and solid writing.

Combat is turn based ala classic RPGs, but very cinematic in its presentation in a way that's reminiscent of XCOM. From a pure RPG point of view dice rolls will dictate all action - with percentages shown to simplify all of the behind the scenes numbers.

With almost an hour of gameplay shown Baldur's Gate 3 is shaping up to be something quite special. As a huge story-driven adventure the only point of concern we have is with the decision to release it in an Early Access state - this is the sort of game where you wouldn't want to encounter bugs or glitches or be limited to the number of classes and skills at your disposal.
