With the live-action The Witcher and the animated Castlevania series, Netflix is set to become the home of the videogame adaptation - with two new animated series based on Blizzard properties set to hit the streaming platform sometime in the future. The confirmation arrived via President of Activision-Blizzard Nick van Dyke's own LinkedIn profile.
Where his experience lists him as an Executive Producer on a Diablo adaptation "rendered in anime style", "currently in pre-production for distribution worldwide through Netflix". As per that description one could assume that the series might feature a visual style similar to the one deployed in the Castlevania series - which you can see the Season Three trailer of below.
This isn't the first time we've heard about this Netflix project, with the first rumblings dating back to 2018.
The Blizzard adaptations don't stop there as Van Dyke's profile also mentions an "an animated series based [on] Blizzard's Overwatch franchise". As to what form this might take, and how it will sit alongside Blizzard's own excellent animated shorts for Overwatch - remains to be seen. If Blizzard were to bring and re-cut all of its shorts for a Netflix animated special, that would also work.
