With Path of Exile 2 also being an expansion of sorts to the current game, albeit one that overhauls the visual engine - with new physically-based rendering. The sequel will feature a story that takes place 20 years after the events of Path of Exile, with developer Grinding Gear Games promising a whopping seven new Acts to play-through.
The announcement came at ExileCon - with the accompanying trailer.
As per the trailer above, even though it will arrive as part of Path of Exile when playing the new content you will need to start fresh with one of the existing seven classes, each of which is getting an overhaul. All cosmetics will carry over though. The team also notes that expansions will then arrive for both Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2 on the same three-month cycle found today.
