Okay, so the very existence of the Epic Games Store is a thing that serves up a seemingly endless stream of controversy. See: negative feedback based on exclusivity deals. But, its both a storefront and Steam competitor that's here for the long-haul - so Epic updating the app with new features is something that we'll continue to keep an eye on.

Mainly because the barest of bones that was the Epic Games Store at launch is still in need of a major overhaul. Buy hey, baby steps.

As part of the September update there are a few welcome improvements, from the new Library list-view to the ability to finally see how long you've played a certain game. Perhaps the best one though is improved patch sizes via optimization so, much like with Steam, if a game or update is 10GB you don't need 10Gb of bandwidth to get it - only a fraction.

On the horizon the Epic Games Store is getting a new look storefront that will feature curated collections and as per the description, "You'll be able to see what games are trending, filter by genre, and more, so that you can find games you'll love faster and easier than before."

Epic notes that a simple version of an in-game overlay is also coming - which will be added to over time.
