Project Resistance is the upcoming asymmetric multiplayer spin-off set in the Resident Evil universe where survivors are pitted against a mastermind. In a new gameplay presentation we get to see a full match play out on Xbox One hardware showing the perspectives of both the survivors and the mastermind.

With the goal being to find keys, fight zombies and other threats, and make it to the exit. Check it out.

Boy, does it looks a little rough. The UI is a complete mess of obtrusive colours and text and the sound design and obnoxious voice acting/commentary all but completely removes one of the key things we love about the Resident Evil franchise - suspense. And tension.

Now, trying to keep track of four players in a split-screen video is not easy, so perhaps some of the blame here comes with information overload of this gameplay debut. That said, the close-up claustrophobic field-of-view and third-person camera employed looks to be the wrong way to go for fast-paced action and exploration. Clocking in at 10 minutes, rounds or matches in Project Resistance look to be quick - but seeing the Mastermind drop zombies into maps directly in front of survivors is just, well, what?
