Released worldwide on September 13 across PC and consoles, Borderlands 3
sold more than 5 million copies in its first five days on physical and digital retail shelves. This represents a 50-percent increase over the Borderlands 2
launch window and on PC (as an Epic Games Store
exclusive) became the highest-selling 2K title in a five-day window.
Making it an immediate $1 billion success story to match the billion or so guns you can loot in the game. Interestingly the report notes that over 70-percent of sales were digital for Borderlands 3, pointing to a definite shift in how players purchase games in 2019.
