The sort of red hellish aesthetic seen in DOOM (2016) mixed with the fast-paced combat of Quake III Arena, upcoming shooter Demon Pit wears its inspiration on its blood-soaked sleeve. With a release set to hit all platforms, including Nintendo Switch, you can play it for free now - with a demo currently available on Steam.

Here's what it looks like in action.

Arise Demon Hunter. It is time. The years you spent slaughtering demon-kind in the mortal world did little to cleanse your soul. Your sins have been laid bare and you have been judged. You are damned for eternity. The pit awaits!

As per the description above action takes on the form of a horde-like experience where you're pitted against waves of demons - with movement, weapons, and arena-tactics being the order of the day. Visually it definitely looks familiar but the blend of Quake II era models with Doom-inspired enemies looks fun.

The full release in on track for sometime later this year.
