The seventh Yakuza game from SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio studio is set to release sometime next year after making its debut in Japan on January 16, 2020. Called Yakuza: Like a Dragon it introduces a new protagonist - a low-level gang member by the name of Ichiban Kasuga. Plus, this time combat will take on the form of turn-based RPG battles.
The following trailer doesn't showcase that aspect of the game, unfortunately, but we do get a good look at the cast of characters that will make an appearance. Alongside the setting of Ijincho in Yokohama.
Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the series, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is being positioned as a re-imagining of the series, from the new protagonist to the new location described as "an entirely new side of Japan never-before-seen in the series".
Now we wait to see how the turn-based combat looks. The main character, as per the trailer above, like Dragon Quest, so technically it makes as much sense as anything in this crazy series.
