The one from 2005, that starred The Rock. And if not worse, then almost the same in terms of visual design. Generic military, budget industrial sci-fi sets, flat lighting, and crummy creature effects. But no The Rock. As a direct-to-video or direct-to-streaming release, from what we've heard Doom: Annihilation was created without the involvement of developer id Software.
So, yeah.
DOOM: ANNIHILATION follows a group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon, only to discover it’s been overrun by demonic creatures who threaten to create Hell on Earth.
The film stars Amy Manson (”Atlantis”), Dominic Mafham (Ophelia) and Luke Allen-Gale (“Dominion”) and Nina Bergman (The Car: Road to Revenge).
Directing the project is Tony Giglio (S.W.A.T.: Under Siege), who also penned the film.
Doom: Annihilation is due for release later this year, in what will no doubt be a campaign to besmirch the good name of DOOM: Eternal - which looks fantastic.
A pretty poorly executed trailer (although the super cheesy nods to Doomstuff like the barrel exploding was appreciated), but at least it actually involves a hell-based setting this time instead of whatever weaksauce bulls*** the last movie tried to pitch. There's a lot of potential to make a vaguely interesting Doom movie though.
