As highlighted in the video after the jump players will be able to ping objects in the world from enemies to chests as a way to flag an objective or something you see without the need for voice chat. The popular ping method of co-op communication was popularised with Respawn's team-based Apex Legends, and is now making its way into Borderlands 3.

Here's a clip of it in action.

Although playable solo, this is one of the features that will allow for grouping up with a large number of players. Via level-syncing and an expanded matchmaking tool players will be able to jump into groups seamlessly whilst playing. There are a couple of MMO-like additions too like player vending machines for friends and the ability to browse their skills and builds. Also, dueling is making a return but this time expanded with a new free-for-all 1v1v1v1 competitive brawl. That, judging by the dueling seen in the past will only last a handful of seconds when you throw in some elemental weapons.
