In addition to introducing 135 new cards, Hearthstone's Saviors of Uldum expansion continues the year-long story-line and picks thing up where the recent Rise of Shadows ended. Once again facing the League of E.V.I.L., players will join the League of Explorers alongside the return of the Quests mechanic.
Rewarding players with "powerful alternate Hero Powers" upon completion. Also coming are new Plague cards that affect the entire board, and Reborn cards that bring back minions from the grave-card with only 1-Health. Here's a look at the cinematic announcement trailer that has the added bonus of featuring a funky Saturday morning cartoon-style theme song.
“Starting with Rise of Shadows, and now with Saviors of Uldum, we’re refining game mechanics and exploring new ideas that will add even more layers of depth and strategic decision-making to Hearthstone,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “We think these new cards, as well as the return of fan-favourite heroes from the League of Explorers expansion, will continue making this the game’s most exciting and competitive year ever.”
Here's a look at a couple of the new Quests.
Saviors of Uldum launches August 7, with Saviors of Uldum card packs winnable via Hearthstone’s Arena mode - very cool. Details on the expansion's Solo Adventure, coming in September, will be made available in the coming weeks.
