A new studio headed up by Glen Schofield, called Striking Distance, has joined PUBG Corporation to create a new AAA narrative game set in the PUBG universe. Schofield is known for being the head of Dead Space studio Visceral Games before co-founding Sledgehammer Games to work on various Call of Duty titles. The studio as per the announcement is being set up in San Ramon, CA.
And in the following video from Glen Schofield he name drops Dead Space and Call of Duty: World War II before talking about creating "an original narrative in the PUBG universe."
Adding, "the freedom to explore the PUBG universe has me excited about the possibilities, which we view as beyond Battle Royale." By the sounds of things whatever the project may be is still very early and the studio will no doubt spend some time scaling up for a AAA project. But, with Schofield at the helm as both studio head and game director, and his history of creating excellent cinematic and narrative driven titles - this will be something to keep an eye on.
