Last year we wrote about Amid Evil, and said that its retro-inspired design and modern feel felt like "an exhilarating breath of fresh air". With each of its playable episodes released over the course of its Early Access period on Steam - the finale, Episode 7: The Void, is set to debut this week. Meaning, Amid Evil is finally getting a full release.

And things definitely seem to be going all in on the vibrant over-the-top design found throughout each episode.

What's great about Amid Evil is that each episode feels like its own new game - featuring new enemies and environments. Built in Unreal Engine 4 it has the feel of Heretic mixed with Quake's movement, and looks great to boot. It nails the combat feel and the fact that your weapons are all magic based make it stand out over the tried-and-true lots-o-guns found in most shooters.

Check back for our full review soon. Amid Evil is out June 20.
