The dynamic bear and bird duo from the Nintendo 64 will be joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate line-up later this year, in a surprise reveal that no doubt excited quite a few Nintendo fans last night. Us included. The stars of Rare's classic 3D platformer have never looked better and will be bringing many familiar moves and abilities to the Smash arena.

Bonus points for the very funny bait and switch before the reveal too.

In addition to the iconic duo we also get to see the overworld from the orignal Banjo-Kazooie game remade as a stage - and it looks wonderful. So much so, we're now keen to see a proper remake.

Banjo and Kazooie join another new fighter, with the hero from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age also coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this year.
