A remaster of the often forgotten Final Fantasy VIII is coming soon to PC and consoles, news that will no doubt please quite a few out there. Fans of the game who always have a few minutes spare to explain just why it's the best game in the series. Coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of its original release, the remaster gives the PlayStation era JRPG a visual update for modern hardware.

Although it still retains the original 4:3 presentation, textures, and models. Unlike the Final Fantasy VII Remake project this is a remaster and re-release of the game. Which means the visuals are still very late 1990s early 2000s.

In FINAL FANTASY VIII, the military nation of Galbadia has allied with Sorceress Edea for world domination. Squall, a member of Balamb Garden's mercenary force SeeD, together with his friends and Rinoa, a member of a resistance group, are shipped off to war, unaware of their fated task to save the world.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
