Called Nuclear Winter, it's a 52-player PvP Battle Royale mode that sees Fallout 76 players try to survive within a closing ring of fire. Which yeah, sounds like the setup of Battlefield V's Firestorm. But with nukes going off. Later in the year, the Wastelanders expansion will present Fallout 76's Appalachia one year after players exited Vault 76. With new human settlements, quests, NPCs, and a new campaign.

This will see both Settlers and Raiders arrive on the scene, with the environment transforming to include the faction settlements of Crater and Foundation. Best of all it sees the silly "no human NPCs" rule of Fallout 76's initial design is being pushed aside and even go so far as to include dialogue choices ala Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Here's a look at Fallout 76: Wastelanders.

And here's the survival-based Nuclear Winter, which is set to go in beta soon.

Nuclear Winter will be the first expansion and season to arrive alongside new weapons and gear and other features. Both will be free to all current Fallout 76 players.
