Yesterday we presented the first half of our deep dive into Metroidvania games, presenting our picks of the best modern entries in a genre whose history you can trace all the way back to the 16-bit and 32-bit era classics from Nintendo and Capcom, Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

With this list, compiled by Seamus Mullins, inspired by one of the genre's recent hits - the excellent Dead Cells.
