And it comes from THQ Nordic and Airship Syndicate, the studio formed by renowned comic book artist and writer, Joe Madureira. Who just so happened to be responsible for the look and feel of the original Darksiders. Airship Syndicate's previous title was the excellent Battle Chasers: Nightwar, which means it's time to Get Hype for the release of Darksiders Genesis.

Especially after the release of the disappointing Darksiders III. Here's the reveal trailer which showcases the new gameplay direction.

Darksiders Genesis isn't a side-story either as it introduces the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse - STRIFE. Which is spelt in all-caps for some reason. The story will involve saving humankind from Lucifer, so expect things to get intense. Although presented from a top-down perspective it doesn't look to be a Diablo-style action-RPG as it will feature many hallmarks of the series - including combat, exploration, platforming, and puzzle solving. In addition to giant boss battles.

According to Joe Madureira, co-creator of Darksiders and CEO of Airship Syndicate, this is the next Darksiders proper. “Darksiders Genesis kicks off a completely fresh direction for the Darksiders franchise, including a new gameplay style, the introduction of STRIFE – the fourth and final horseman – and so much more,” he said. “The team at Airship is very eager to get Darksiders Genesis into the hands of fans at next week’s E3 show in Los Angeles!”

Best of all Darksiders Genesis will be out for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia later this year.
