Created in Unreal Engine 4 and looking pretty damn impressive too. So much so that we remember playing this level (The Jade Moon) way back in the day on the Nintendo 64. Getting to see Rogue Squadron with fancy new visuals, with the same great music and sound effects, is pretty special - and makes us hope for a brand new straight-up aerial and space combat Star Wars game to be announced.

A new Tie Fighter or Rogue Squadron? Yeah, that would rock. In the meantime though the creator of this remake, Thanaclara, deserves all the props. The project, which has been in development for two years, looks to be shaping up nicely - and isn't a mere tech demo or "what if".

Bonus points for nailing the look and feel of the UI and mini-map.

According to the developer there's at least another two years to go as the plan is to include all ships, maps, and levels from the original game. To follow and keep tabs on the development be sure to follow the project's Subreddit.

Now we wait for the inevitable cease and desist order.

Maybe if they made these games and made a s***load of money they won't have to spend so much time with their lawyers stopping these wonderful projects, Rogue Squadron 1 and 2 are at the top of my remake wishlist and I'd happily pay good money for them!
