In that the look, feel, and animation of the ant-like enemy creatures look identical to those found in Rare's Nintendo 64-era action-adventure game Jet Force Gemini. Which blended the cutesy aesthetic of something like Banjo, with third person shooting. Tamarin, from Chameleon Games, features the same mix of platforming and shooting.
And is due for release sometime this winter on PC and PS4. Although a somewhat weird blend of styles, the following trailer does impress.
Explore an incredible interconnected 3D world, brimming with primate platforming and bug-splattering shooter action. Leap with the agility of a tamarin as you journey into the Northern wilderness on scenic routes through forests, fjords and mountains. Along the way you will chase mysterious electrical fireflies, discover a secret underground world of dancing ants, rescue innocent birds, and restore the tamarins’ once idyllic natural habitat.
With music from Donkey Kong Country composer David Wise and Donkey Kong 64 artist Richard Vaucher heading up the art, Tamarin is certainly one to keep an eye on.
