In that with its slow pace and focus on cinematic conversation, and general chit chat without the need for yelling or dramatic acting, this new trailer is pure Shenmue. Even though the character designs and overall look is more cartoon or anime than the realism found in the first two games, we have to say that Shenmue 3 is starting to look pretty good.
Which is good because the game is still on track for release this August - right around the corner. The following trailer made its debut at the Magic 2019 convention in France this weekend, showcasing the cinematic ambition of the sequel in addition to proving that it very much picks things up where the last game left things.
If you're not a fan or have played a game in the Shenmue series before then this trailer might come off as little more than an oddity. For the rest of us, the slow-paced conversation and Virtua Fighter-style martial arts will bring back a few fond memories.
