Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is without a doubt
the best Left 4 Dead style co-op first-person action game since, well, Left 4 Dead. Although featuring the same template of narrative levels, bosses, and randomised enemies - the fantasy Warhammer setting paves the way for a different style of action. Plus, it looks great and the combat mechanics are all solid. Over the weekend, developer Fatshark has announced a new expansion - Winds of Magic.
That will introduce a new location, the windy city of Helmgart plus a new enemy faction - the Beastmen. Which aims to provide a new challenge for players.
The Beastmen enter Vermintide 2, and will keep the heroes on their toes. The horned warrior-beasts are the true children of Chaos. These warp-spawned hybrids of animals and primitive humans will be the toughest enemy faction our Heroes have faced.
Also a new game mode called Winds of Magic is coming, where "total of eight winds will confront the players in new and surprising ways". Although mysterious in its description it sounds like a horde mode of sorts.
“This is the next chapter in the Vermintide 2 saga," says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. "New enemies bring new challenges for the players, and we know that our amazing community is ready to fend them off."
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Winds of Magic expansion is due for release this year.
