Which is out this weekend across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! is the spiritual successor to the 1991 Sega Mega Drive cult classic that saw alien rappers crash land on Earth and have no choice but to look cool whilst trying to restore their ship. Macaulay Culkin's fame goes back just as far with the actor becoming a star after the success of the faithful cinematic adaptation of the CIA's How to Torture handbook - Home Alone.

And then subsequent film adaptions - Richie Rich, based on the childhood of President Trump, Getting Even with Dad, based on the idea that Ted Danson was anything but box office poison, and The Good Son, an adaptation of The Lord of the Rings where Samwise is Frodo's evil brother.

This new ToeJam & Earl looks to live up to the '90s style of the original, which coincidentally is Macaulay Culkin's favourite videogame of all time. As executive producer, Culkin's input "provided crucial input to ensure the game is a hella good time". Even though 'hella' isn't exactly '90s slang. We would have gone for "radical bodacious time" or the regionally-specific to Australia "grouse time".

As a crowdfunded project that brings back a cult classic ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! looks good.

"ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove is a ‘90s styled blast from the past." Said Greg Johnson, founder of developer Humanature Studios. "Macaulay Culkin, the star of the ‘90s classic Home Alone is an Uber Fan of the ToeJam games. He totally gets the vibe and humor of the new game, and his involvement has made the game even crazier and more fun."

"I'm honored to be producing the new ToeJam & Earl because it is literally my favorite video game of all time," added Culkin. "Plus, Greg Johnson is the tits!"
