In what's being described as a mutually agreed upon decision - where troubled developer and publisher Starbreeze is selling the publishing rights to the upcoming System Shock 3 back to OtherSide Entertainment. In an announcement that it feels the need to point "[Starbreeze will be] fully reimbursed for costs the company has had in connection with development of the game".

Sure. If you haven't been following the news related to Payday developer Starbreeze's movements of late - the studio ran out of money, was raided by the Swedish government on suspicions of insider trading, and the release of Overkill's The Walking Dead was met with poor critical response and worse sales.

For an excellent in-depth look at Starbreeze's fall from grace - so to speak - check out the excellent investigative report over at Eurogamer. Which also paints a very grim picture of the development conditions surrounding it's Left 4 Dead take on The Walking Dead.

So, this is good news for the still very mysterious System Shock 3. OtherSide Entertainment should be able to find a new publishing partner for it's TBC release, because, well, it's System Shock.

Given the shoddy release state of Underworld Ascendant I can only hope practice makes perfect for their next release.
