After the full release of the excellent DUSK late last year, publisher New Blood Interactive is on a bit of a retro FPS roll. Today marks the launch of the sixth and second-last episode for Amid Evil - the Hexen and Heretic-like old-school shooter that we've been having a blast playing as an Early Access release. Titled 'The Arcane Expanse', Episode 6 looks fantastic.

And to use an elderly older old school term - trippy man. Check it out.

Built using Unreal Engine, even though Amid Evil captures a Quake-era look with low polygon models and environments the effects, speed, and overall quality make it one of the most visually impressive retro shooters currently playable. Plus, the Heretic setting of magic and weapons that shoot orbs and balls and energy doo-dads adds a certain charm to the action.

With each episode offering a different setting and new enemies to battle, Amid Evil is more incomplete than Early Access. Definitely one to check out if you haven't already, as it's currently on sale too.
