The upcoming Far Cry: New Dawn, which continues the story of the excellent Far Cry 5 in the most spoiler way possible - by setting the action in a post-nuclear world - is also changing things up a bit with the addition of some 'light RPG' mechanics. These are the words of creative director Jean-Sebastien Decant, who took to Twitter to detail what this entails.
As per the following little video, he notes, "You'll be able to craft guns that have ranks, and these ranks they will be useful to fight against enemies that also have ranks." Which seems to hint at some sort of gear-level system where one gun is better than another purely based on its level or rank.
This revelation comes from answering a community question that asked what mechanics were changing over Far Cry 5. The other big reveal seems to be with the new Prosperity home base that can be upgraded and used as a place to rally. Which will also play into the new outpost system, that lets you capture as well as squeeze outposts for all their resources.
Far Cry: New Dawn is out February 15.
