Whilst re-iterating the "multiple Diablo projects" mantra that was the go-to response when asked about potential projects, including the rumoured Diablo 4, after the relatively tepid response it received for the mobile-only Diablo Immortal. In a response within the
massive thread about the future of Diablo on the official forums, Blizzard notes that it will be revealing more "over the course of the coming year".
We continue to read feedback and our internal discussions are ongoing. We have many plans for Diablo across multiple projects which we’ll be revealing over the course of the coming year. We are eager to share more about all of our projects, but some will have to wait as we prefer to show you, rather than tell you, about them. It's going to take some time as we strive to meet your expectations, but now, more than ever, we are committed to delivering Diablo experiences the community can be proud of.
Based to the close proximity to the Diablo Immortal reveal and BlizzCon itself, now's not the right time to formally announce Diablo 4 or what-else might be in store for the franchise. The key take-away we feel is the statement "we are committed to delivering Diablo experiences the community can be proud of". Which, truth be told, fills us with hope.
The radio silence post-Diablo Immortal reveal from Blizzard is still concerning - and although Diablo 3 is still getting love in the form of an impending
game-changing patch, we'd love for some actual new content whilst we wait. New zones, bounties, Rift tilesets, etc.
