In their home country of England, reported to be a facility somewhere in the tune of a state-of-the-art $100 studio. Chalk this one up a surprise as we wouldn't have pegged Rebellion as a developer that move into film ad television production. According to the report over at Variety, the new studio will be home to the planned Judge Dredd: Mega-City One television series and a Rogue Trooper film.
Both of which are properties of British comic book series “2000 AD”, which is owned by Rebellion. Jason Kingsley, company founder told Variety, "We’ve got a huge library of good stories, and we’ll do original stuff as well. We make computer games. VFX is an area we are looking at as well. There is a whole bunch of interesting stuff, but you do need the craft skills and you need facilities…and it is hard to find them. We were looking and couldn’t find anywhere to shoot the stuff we have ambitions to do."
The Rogue Trooper film is set to be Duncan Jones, who directed sci-fi classic Moon and the Warcraft movie. Rebellion has plans to talk to companies like Netflix and Amazon for its planned Judge Dredd series and others.
