With the original Half-Life celebrating its 20th anniversary the team behind Black Mesa, the incredibly detailed fan remake of the game, has revealed its re-imagined and fleshed out version of Xen. The mysterious world between worlds that served as a brief stop for Gordon Freeman in his travels. And, it looks incredible.

Just, wow.

For those that recall Xen in Half-Life was exactly as described above, a brief stop in the journey. In Black Mesa though the Crowbar Collective team is expanding the location to provide several hours of new gameplay in what is shaping up to be quite the visual showcase. It plans on having its version of Xen playable in Q2 2019.

Black Mesa is currently available to play via Steam Early Access.

Been waiting ages for this! It does look incredible. Great to see that they have nearly completed the project, it's a very worthy remake in my view.

Xen in my memory was the worst part of HL but this looks interesting enough that it might be worth a crack. I read something else this morning that indicated that the team wanted to actually make it much better than the original which is why it has taken so long to get this far.
