Crackdown 3 has certainly been a long time coming, and when the game first made its debut many years ago Microsoft hinted at a destructible world where entire buildings could crumble in a dazzling display of physics thanks to the power of the cloud. Well, it looks like Microsoft is making good on that promise thanks to Crackdown 3's multiplayer mode - Wrecking Zone.
Which uses the power of Microsoft Azure servers to allow two teams of five players to basically blow not only each other up but every structure in sight. Check it out.
It looks pretty impressive from a tech standpoint and the addition of a crumbling environment will no doubt help it stand out from standard team death-match modes. At Microsoft's X018 event earlier today a look at live gameplay from Wrecking Zone was broadcast, and outside of the impressive destruction one of the weird design choices was the addition of auto lock-on targeting when shooting at other players. So, we're curious to see just how that impacts strategy and whether or not destruction plays a more important role than being good at picking off agents from a distance. Which, we're all for if that's the case.
Crackdown 3 will also launch alongside a single-player campaign and be available February 15 for Xbox One, Windows 10, and via Xbox Game Pass.
