The name Midgar Studios should be enough to clue you in as to where Edge of Eternity draws its inspiration. Throw in the art direction, music, voice acting, and even logo - it's hard to shake the feeling that it's a fan-made Final Fantasy in everything but name.

That's not to say it looks bad, in fact it's actually quite impressive that this was born from crowdfunded Kickstarter campaign. And it will be entering Early Access on Steam November 29.

“Edge of Eternity is a labor of love designed as a tribute to JRPG classics,” says Jeremy Zeler, Head of Midgar Studio. “But building this ambitious JRPG has been a long journey. We still have a lot we want to deliver to make Edge of Eternity everything we want it to be. That’s why we decided to move forward with an Early Access launch.”

The story follows in the footsteps of Final Fantasy in a tale that deals with a looming threat, friendship, adversity, and loss. In terms of story, an interesting addition is the ability to make meaningful choices that are set to have differing consequences. Combat itself is only hinted at in the trailer, but from the looks of it will also carry a very JRPG feel.
